Botsmith vs Wonderchat

Wonderchat sells AI agents for support and sales teams, with pricing built around resolutions, team seats, helpdesk connections and enterprise compliance. Botsmith is made for the owner of a small website who wants customer questions answered from their own pages and files, without a support department behind it. The two can both put an AI chat on your site, but they are priced for very different businesses. This page sets out the numbers so you can see which one matches yours.

The numbers

Wonderchat figures are the yearly-billing prices shown on its pricing page when we checked on 14 September 2026. The page says paying yearly saves 17%, and the monthly-billing prices only appear after switching the toggle in a browser, so we have not quoted them. The page names its second paid plan both "Scale" and "Turbo" in different sections, which is why we refer to it by price.

What you are paying for

Wonderchat prices its plans by the number of conversations the AI resolves. Its page puts Basic at roughly $0.12 per resolution. That model suits a support team that already knows its ticket volume and wants to measure how many tickets the AI takes off its queue. The plans also add workflows, analytics such as gap analysis, and connections to tools like Microsoft Teams, Calendly, SharePoint, Zendesk, Freshdesk, HubSpot, Zapier and WhatsApp.

Botsmith prices by bots and monthly messages, and stops at a level a sole trader or a small team can pay out of pocket. For US$19 a month you get one bot with 2,000 messages. You set it up by entering your web address and, if you like, uploading PDF, Word or Excel files with the details your site leaves out. There are three places customers can reach it: a chat bubble added with one line of code, a chat link with its own QR code, and automatic replies on a WeChat Official Account.

When Botsmith is the better fit

• Your budget is tens of dollars a month, not hundreds. Botsmith Pro is US$49 a month with five bots. Wonderchat's lowest paid plan was $124 a month billed yearly when we checked.
• You are the whole support team. You do not need seats, routing or a helpdesk. You need the common questions answered and the serious enquiries sent to your inbox. When a visitor leaves a name, phone number or email, Botsmith emails you with the full conversation attached.
• You want to try it without a card and without a sales call. The 14-day trial needs no card, and a bot is usually ready within minutes of entering your address.
• You run several small sites. Pro covers five bots, each with its own link and QR code, all counted against one allowance.
• You serve Chinese-speaking customers. Botsmith answers in the visitor's language and can reply on your WeChat Official Account.

When Wonderchat is the better fit

• You have a support team with a helpdesk. Wonderchat lists human handover, helpdesk escalation and integrations with Zendesk, Freshdesk, HubSpot and Salesforce. Botsmith does not connect to other tools and has no public API.
• Colleagues need their own access. Wonderchat Basic includes 3 team seats. Botsmith has one login per account.
• You need compliance paperwork. Wonderchat's Enterprise plan lists SOC 2 and HIPAA, single sign-on and custom integrations. Botsmith does not offer enterprise terms.
• You want voice or SMS. Wonderchat lists a voice agent on its $417 plan and an SMS agent on Enterprise. Botsmith handles text chat only.
• Your knowledge base is large. Wonderchat allows 1,000 web pages per agent on Basic and 2,500 on the next plan. Botsmith indexes up to 500 pages on Starter and 3,000 on Pro.

How Botsmith handles questions it cannot answer

Before replying, Botsmith looks up the relevant text on your pages and in your uploaded files. If nothing there covers the question, it tells the visitor it is not sure rather than inventing a price or policy. Those unanswered questions are listed in your dashboard, so each week you can see what customers asked that your site does not explain. Type an answer once and the bot uses it from the next message. Rules you add, such as "never quote delivery dates", take effect on every reply at once.

Trying both

1. Write down the ten questions your customers ask most, including one or two your website does not answer.
2. Start a Botsmith trial with your web address and upload any document that holds the missing answers.
3. Ask both bots the same ten questions and note which answers you would be happy for a customer to read.
4. Estimate your monthly volume. If it fits within 2,000 or 10,000 messages and you do not need seats or integrations, Botsmith will cost less.
