Botsmith vs Botsonic

Botsonic, the chatbot builder from Writesonic, and Botsmith happen to charge the same list prices for their two main plans. What you get for that money is quite different. Botsonic spreads its plans across team seats, messaging channels and agentic actions. Botsmith puts it into more messages, more bots and a bot that answers only from your own website and files.

Botsonic prices above are its monthly-billing prices when we checked its pricing page on 14 September 2026. It also lists lower per-month prices for annual billing and says it offers no pay-as-you-go plan.

Same prices, different trade-offs

Because the headline numbers match, the useful comparison is the allowance under each one. For US$19 a month Botsmith gives one bot 2,000 messages, while Botsonic's Starter includes 1,000. For US$49 a month Botsmith includes 5 bots and 10,000 messages with no badge. Botsonic's Professional plan includes 2 chatbots and 3,000 messages, and hiding its branding is a further $49 a month.

What Botsonic adds at those prices is reach and headcount. Its Starter plan lists integrations for WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Zapier, WordPress and Google Drive, plus lead capture forms and 3 agentic actions. Professional adds a second team member, Slack, Calendly and Notion, automated email transcripts and a request callback button. If your customers already message you on WhatsApp, or a colleague needs their own login, those count for more than a bigger message allowance.

If you outgrow a plan

On Botsonic you can buy capacity in pieces. Its pricing page lists 2,000 extra messages for $25 a month, additional team members at $25 per month each, API access for $49 a month on the lower plans, and a Zendesk ticket and live agent handoff add-on at $199 a month. That flexibility helps a growing support team that wants to add one thing at a time.

Botsmith keeps it simpler: two plans. Moving from Starter to Pro raises you from 2,000 to 10,000 messages, from 1 bot to 5 and from 500 pages indexed to 3,000 in one step, and removes the badge.

When Botsmith is the better fit

• Messages matter more than seats. For the same monthly price you get twice the messages on the entry plan and more than three times as many on the second plan.
• You want no badge without an add-on. Pro hides it as part of the US$49 plan.
• You look after several small sites. Pro covers five bots, for example one per location or brand.
• Your customers use WeChat. Botsmith can reply automatically on a WeChat Official Account, which suits businesses serving Chinese-speaking customers.
• You want to learn what your site is missing. Questions the bot could not answer collect in your dashboard. Write the answer once and it is used from the next message.
• You want to try it without a card. The 14-day trial asks for none.

When Botsonic is the better fit

• You want the bot inside WhatsApp, Messenger or Telegram. Botsonic lists those integrations from its Starter plan. Botsmith can be shared by link in a messaging app, but it does not connect to those platforms directly.
• Two or more people manage the bot. Botsonic includes team members and sells more; a Botsmith account has one login.
• The bot should do things, not only answer. Botsonic offers agentic actions, workflows on Advanced, and Zapier. Botsmith has no integrations or public API.
• Hard cases go to a human in Zendesk. Botsonic sells ticket and live agent handoff to Zendesk. Botsmith hands off by emailing you the visitor's details and transcript.
• You are an eligible school or non-profit. Botsonic advertises a 30% discount for eligible educational institutions and non-profit organizations.

What using Botsmith looks like

You type in your website address and Botsmith reads your public pages, usually within minutes. Add a price list, policy or product sheet as a PDF, Word or Excel file if it is not on the site. Then either paste one script tag into your site for a chat bubble or copy the bot's link and QR code. From then on, each reply is built from the passages that match the question, with links back to the source page. When nothing matches, the bot says it is not sure rather than inventing a price. Visitors get replies in the language they type in, and every conversation is saved in your dashboard.

Moving from Botsonic

1. Start a free Botsmith trial with your website address.
2. Upload the files you had given Botsonic that are not on your public site.
3. Ask both bots the questions your customers really send and compare the replies.
