Botsmith vs Chatling

Chatling is a no-code AI agent builder. It lets you pick from dozens of AI models, add actions, connect messaging channels and bring teammates into a shared inbox. Botsmith is narrower. It reads your website and your documents, answers visitors from that content, and emails you when someone wants to talk to a person. If you run a small business and are choosing between the two, the biggest differences are how usage is counted, what the badge costs to remove, and how much setup you want to take on.

Credits versus messages: read this before comparing prices

The two plans that look closest, Botsmith Starter and Chatling Starter, measure usage in different units. That matters more than the few dollars between them.

Chatling says credit usage varies with the AI model. Its pricing page lists what each model costs per AI message. Some light models use 1 credit or less per reply; GPT-4.1 Mini, for example, is 1 credit. The largest models cost much more: Claude Opus 5 is 25 credits per reply. So the 1,750 credits in Chatling Starter could cover about 1,750 replies on a 1-credit model, or about 70 replies on a 25-credit model. You choose the trade-off between model and volume.

Botsmith does not ask you to pick a model or do this arithmetic. Each answer to a visitor counts as one message. Starter includes 2,000 of them a month, and Pro includes 10,000. If you want to know in advance roughly how many customer questions your plan covers, that is the simpler model. If you want control over which model answers, Chatling gives you that control.

When Botsmith is the better fit

• You want a predictable monthly count. A message is a message, whatever the question. You never need to estimate credits per reply.
• You want the badge gone on a small budget. Botsmith Pro at US$49 a month hides the "Powered by" badge. On Chatling, that comes with the $295 Scale plan or costs $35 a month extra on a lower plan.
• Your answers live in files as well as pages. Upload price lists, policies or product sheets as PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or CSV files, and the bot answers from them next to your website content.
• Some of your customers use WeChat. Botsmith can reply automatically on a WeChat Official Account using the same knowledge as your website bot.
• You want to see the gaps. Questions the bot could not answer are gathered in your dashboard. Write the answer once and the bot uses it straight away.
• You would rather skip the builder. There are no models to choose, actions to wire up or flows to draw. Add your web address, upload any files, test a few questions and paste one line of code.

When Chatling is the better fit

• You need more channels. Chatling lists WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Telegram alongside web chat. Botsmith covers your website, a shareable link and WeChat Official Accounts only.
• Your bot should do things, not just answer. Chatling plans include AI actions, from 4 per agent on Starter, and integrations such as Google Sheets, Cal.com, Zapier, Zendesk and HubSpot. Botsmith has no integrations or public API.
• Several people answer chats. Chatling includes 2 seats on Starter, 5 on Growth and 10 on Scale, plus live chat features for handing conversations to staff. A Botsmith account has one login.
• You want to choose the AI model. Chatling lets you pick from a long list of models from different providers. Botsmith does not offer a model choice.
• Visitors like to talk rather than type. Chatling offers voice input on paid plans. Botsmith is text chat only.
• You need a very small add-on. Chatling sells extras one by one, such as another AI agent for $3 a month or another seat for $10 a month.

Sharing the bot outside your website

Both products let you share a bot as a link. Chatling describes sharing a chatbot by giving people a link, and it can put a password on shared chatbots. Botsmith gives every bot its own chat link and a QR code, so you can print it on a menu, a flyer or a shop window, and add it to email signatures and social profiles. You can switch the public link off at any time, and the website snippet only works on your own domains.

Languages and data

Chatling says its AI can respond in over 80 languages. Botsmith replies in whatever language the visitor writes in, so an English site can still answer a question typed in Spanish or Chinese. On Botsmith, conversations are kept separate for each visitor and are never used to train models. Uploaded files are not stored; only the text taken from them is kept.

Moving from Chatling to Botsmith

1. Start the 14-day Botsmith trial and create a bot from your website address.
2. Upload the documents you had added to Chatling, such as a price list or returns policy.
3. Put your most common customer questions to both bots and compare the answers side by side.
