Botsmith vs SiteGPT
SiteGPT and Botsmith are close cousins. Both read your website, answer visitors from what they find there, and sit on your pages as a chat widget. The differences show up in the price of the first plan, the free trial, how many people can log in, and how far each one reaches into other tools. This page sets the two side by side using each company's own published plans, as they stood when we checked on 14 September 2026.

A few notes so the numbers compare fairly. SiteGPT's message allowance depends on the AI model you pick: its Starter figure is for GPT-4.1-mini, and the same plan gives far fewer answers on GPT-4.1. SiteGPT also counts a "page" as 2,500 cleaned characters of content, so a long page on your site can use more than one. Botsmith counts one message for each visitor question the bot answers, and its page limit is the number of pages it indexes from your site. Extra SiteGPT message packs of 5k are $59/mo.
Where the two products overlap
If you only need a bot that knows your website, the two feel similar. You enter a URL, the tool reads your pages, and the bot answers from them. Both let you add material that is not on your site. SiteGPT accepts file uploads, raw text, YouTube videos and sources such as Notion, Google Drive and Dropbox. Botsmith accepts PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CSV files, plus pasted text.
Both give each bot a link you can send people to, so the chat does not have to live only inside a widget. Both collect contact details from interested visitors. Both reply in the visitor's own language; SiteGPT says its chatbot works in 95 languages.
Where they differ
Who pays what to start. On monthly billing, SiteGPT Starter costs $59 and Botsmith Starter costs US$19. SiteGPT's Starter gives you more message room and a larger page limit, so the gap is partly about how much you get. If your site gets fewer questions than the Botsmith Starter allowance, the extra room on SiteGPT may go unused.
How you try it. SiteGPT asks for a credit card before its 7-day trial. Botsmith's trial runs for 14 days with 200 messages and no card, so nothing is charged if you forget to cancel.
What happens when a visitor wants a person. SiteGPT lets visitors hand the chat to a live agent, and from Growth its iOS app gives your team a live inbox that alerts you when someone asks for a human. Botsmith takes a simpler route: it asks for the visitor's details and emails them to you with the full transcript, so you follow up by phone or email.
Keeping answers current. SiteGPT refreshes content by hand on Starter, monthly on Growth and weekly on Scale. Botsmith re-reads website sources each week on every plan. Questions Botsmith could not answer land in your dashboard, and a reply you write there is used from the next message on.
Channels. Botsmith can reply to messages on a WeChat Official Account, which matters if your customers use WeChat. SiteGPT lists integrations with Slack, Messenger, Crisp, Zoho SalesIQ and others, and on Scale it can act as the AI agent inside Zendesk Messaging.
When Botsmith is the better fit
- You run one small business website and want the lowest monthly bill for a bot that answers from your pages and documents.
- You want to test without a card. Fourteen days and 200 messages are enough to try it on real visitors before you decide.
- You would like a few bots under one plan. Pro at US$49 a month covers five bots, for example one per location or brand, and drops the "Powered by" badge.
- Leads by email suit you. You would rather get a message with the visitor's name, number and the whole chat than watch a live inbox.
- Some of your customers write in Chinese on WeChat and you want the same bot answering there.
- You share the bot in print or on social profiles. Each bot comes with its own chat link and QR code.
When SiteGPT is the better fit
- Your team needs to take over live chats. SiteGPT offers live-agent handoff and a mobile inbox. Botsmith passes the visitor to you by email instead.
- You work inside Slack, Zendesk, Crisp or a similar tool and want the bot connected to it, or you need an API. Botsmith has neither integrations nor a public API.
- Several people need their own logins. SiteGPT Growth includes 4 members and Scale includes 10. A Botsmith account has one login.
- You want to choose the AI model and switch between a faster and a more thorough one.
- You need compliance paperwork. SiteGPT reports a SOC 2 Type II examination, and its Enterprise plan offers a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement.
- Your content lives in Notion, Google Drive or YouTube and you want the bot to pull from there directly.
